PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME
Welcome to Bendigo South East 7-10 Secondary College for 2025. Our college offers a learning environment where all students are encouraged by committed staff to strive for excellence in academic achievement, citizenship, community, and service. Our extended educational community provides a caring and supportive environment, recognising and rewarding individual and collaborative achievements.
This year, our theme is “Strive 25”. As a college, we will be infusing this concept in all that we do by encouraging everyone to give their best, turn up ready to participate in learning (strive), every lesson (25 lessons/week), every day, all year (2025). As has been our vision at BSE, we will continue to promote opportunities for our students to strive for academic excellence, social and emotional well-being through a lens of equity and inclusion. With that said, the BSE staff are excited to kick off this year by meeting all families and students via the ‘Ready to Learn Interviews’! Our focus this year will be on improving student attendance and continuing our journey using the School Wide Positive Behaviour program with an emphasis on student engagement in every classroom.
The BSE combines the foundational study of the Victorian F-10 curriculum and real-time learning within cutting-edge industries, alongside specialisation in athlete development and the arts. Your child will thrive in our vibrant college, where they will be challenged and engaged by a focused learning culture. Our philosophy also emphasises engagement and participation in college life, and the development of well-rounded, compassionate future citizens. This pathways and future-oriented culture, and our emphasis on academic growth for every student, promotes and reinforces our high expectations.
The college boasts excellent facilities and resources, numerous extracurricular programs, and a strong and supportive well-being system. All our open learning classrooms are fitted out with technology systems to enhance learning. Our 1:1 Laptop program provides authentic, integrated ways to solve problems, complete projects, and extend the learning environment into the real world.
BSE has a very supportive School Council, which provides strong community support and input into the learning program, committed, highly experienced and talented staff, and tremendous student leaders. I am very proud to be part of the BSE family and trust that your tour of our website will be interesting and informative. I invite you to explore further our exciting, future-oriented innovation in government education as part of the Bendigo Education Plan 2018. The plan for the next ten years aligns with the Education State’s vision to give every Victorian the opportunity to thrive, prosper, and actively participate in society, no matter their background or circumstances.
