February 4th marked the day of BSE’s Swimming Trials for 2016. The trials were run differently this year. This year the trials were located at Brennan Park pool and each year level participated in the trials at different intervals throughout the day. Due to thorough organisation the day was a huge success.
Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly trials were available for students to be timed in. A record number of students participated in the events; gaining valuable points for each event they took part in for their House Team’s aggregate.
Students showed much enthusiasm, team spirit and support for their teammates throughout the day. House Captains and leaders were able to get to know their team as they worked with small groups, as they competed one-year level at a time.
A highlight of the day was seeing so many students in the pool with a smile on their dial, having a go, contributing and winning points for their team. It was amazing to see the unyielding dedication, shown by captains who swam lap after lap alongside anyone who needed or wanted support.
Everyone deserves to be proud of the part they played in accomplishing a fun and successful Swimming Trials day. We are primed and looking forward to the College Swimming Carnival on Tuesday 16th February.
