BSE Dragons Girls Football Sandhurst Division Champions
On Wednesday 15th June, a BSE team of highly skilled girls ranging from Years 7-9 was selected to play against other Bendigo schools in a competitive football tournament.
With much appreciation of Danny O’Bree, taking his time to coach the team, and the help of student coaches, Sam Reaper and Kyal Rasmussen, the girls wouldn’t have been as confident playing competitive footy.
The first match started, leading with a strong win of 61 - 0 against Crusoe. The second round against Castlemaine was a little more challenging, although we picked up our game in the second half where we came away with another win, 28-14. To make it through to the final, we had to beat Girton, who had won the same amount of games as us. It was a close game, only winning by 8.
Once again BSE had made their way into finals, only this year facing Marist. The whole team played exceptionally well, and with great thinking of the play, we had won by 13 points.
Everyone was thrilled when the siren had sounded. The team throughout the day had positive attitude and knew the games were only going to get tougher, but with more experience each round, we were sure to come out on top.
