BSE Year 10 Students Receive Valuable Pre Driver Experience at Charlton's Driver Education Centre
On Thursday the 8th and 9th of May, Mr Fawcett took his Pre Driver Ed class to Charlton. They completed two days of driving swapping between theory classes and practical driving. During the theory lessons they covered the topics that they would be completing next in the cars. The class was split into two groups and while one was driving, the other was in the classroom.
The course at Charlton was set up to enable the students to practice a range of skills including, hill starts, roundabouts, traffic lights, pedestrians crossing, U-turns and 3 point turns, reversing night driving, overtaking, stop and give way signs, both parallel and angled parking as well as gear changes. Students used a 1.7km track that had both gravel and sealed sections to allow them to practice driving on different surfaces. Students were given the option to drive either an automatic or manual car in a number of different situations that increased in difficulty with each drive.
During the theory lessons they covered topics such as systems of car control, steering, braking, gear changes, traffic regulations and road rules, observations and planning, driving in adverse conditions, and very valuable program for everyone that attended and all learnt a lot and improved their driving skills.
