BSE Dragons Badminton Teams Win Through to State Finals
On the 23rd of July, an excited group of BSE Badminton players travelled to Kyabram to compete in the Loddon Mallee Finals. BSE's success at the first round meant both the girls and boys team for Year 7 & 8 were ready for a great day. Each team played singles and doubles matches. The competition was against Nathalia, Echuca, Swan Hill and Charlton.
The Year 7 girls only had one match to decide their fate for the day. With much excitement, the girls came away with a win against Swan Hill and progress to the State Finals.
The Year 7 Boys played Nathalia and Swan Hill and won most of their games by a large margin. Their teamwork was excellent and each doubles pair worked exceptionally well together.
Year 8 Boys played well throughout the day under excellent coaching, and improvement was very noticeable. They won their last game against Charlton to take home a blue ribbon for the day.
The Year 8 Girls team progressed will throughout the day but went down to Charlton in an epic final match. The scores for the match were 4-2 games Charlton's way, but points ending up 123 each. A great effort from the girls, an unfortunate loss.
Congratulations to all of the players from the day. Everyone enjoyed themselves, proud of the progress they had made in the development of their badminton skills - practice certainly helps!
Congratulations and good luck to the teams that progress to the state finals later in the year.
Special thanks to the student coaches, Serena, Julia, Amu, Emily and Andrea.
