Six records, two medals for swim star
Brisbane Aquatic Centre hosted the 2017 Australian Age Swimming Championships and Katerina Pizzo was a competitor in the S7 multi-class.
Kat smashed out six Australian records and came home with a silver medal in 100m backstroke and a bronze in 50m breastroke. She has been swimming for 10 years and began competing more than two years ago with Bendigo East Swimming Club. It has been great for Kat to be around the club as they are very supportive and willing to try new things, teacher Rachel Cain says.
Kat says she has an awesome coach, who has given up a lot of family time to guide her in morning and afternoon training sessions. Swimming is the Year 8 student's favourite sport.
"It is an individual sport that relies on the full body, not just one area of your body getting tired," she says. Kat is looking forward to a break and importantly the 2020 Paralympics. Congratulations Kat!
